The Medical Director is a part-time clinical leadership role supporting UCHealthMG ambulatory strategy, governance, and innovation. This individual provides clinical insight, operational perspective, and cross-functional leadership across key committees and initiatives, while serving as a bridge between frontline teams and executive leadership.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to: Scott Smith, MD, Chief Medical Officer
Time Commitment
- 0.2-0.4 FTE (1-2 days/week; 2-4 half-day sessions)
- Senior Clinical Leadership meetings: 1 hour, 2 Thursdays/month
- Primary care medical director/Director meetings: 1 hour/month, Thursdays

- Ambulatory Protocol Governance
- PAN Core
- Nurse Advice Line
- System Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committee
- PECOC
- Virtual Primary Care
- Trinsic / Value-Based Care initiatives
Clinical & Operational Leadership
- Provide input on ambulatory workflows, protocols, and system initiatives
- Identify opportunities to improve quality, access, efficiency, and patient experience
- Support development and implementation of standardized care models
- Contribute to value-based care and population health strategies

Stakeholder Engagement

- Partner with frontline clinicians, practice managers, and system leaders
- Actively solicit and incorporate frontline feedback
- Ensure alignment between operational realities and system priorities

Problem Solving & Strategy

- Apply systems thinking to clinical and operational challenges
- Synthesize input, identify key issues, and support actionable solutions
- Balance local needs with enterprise priorities

Qualifications

Required
- MD, DO, NP, or PA with active clinical practice
- Strong understanding of ambulatory medical office operations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Respected clinician with strong peer credibility
- Prior clinical leadership or committee experience

Administrative time will be compensated at a standard rate following the completion of monthly time sheets
