UCHealth Medical Group and the Trauma/Acute Care Surgery group in Highlands Ranch, CO are ready to welcome four board-eligible/certified Trauma and Acute Care Surgeons to their team as we open a surgical intensive care unit and expand our hospital to a level II trauma center.
The UCHealth Acute Care Surgery service line across the Front Range of Colorado represents a mature, system-wide program. We are now seeking to expand surgical capabilities within Highlands Ranch Hospital to create an additional referral center within our system. The hospital has undergone significant expansion in operating room capacity as well as inpatient bed capacity in the last year.
As a current Level III-N trauma center, the team is staffed by six general surgeons and one TACS critical care surgeon who serves as medical director for trauma. Additionally, four TACS APPs support the team. With the opening of a SICU service line and the transition to a Level II trauma center, the team anticipates moving to a 12-hour day and night shift-based schedule. The expected surgical ICU/TACS call split for this new team will be approximately 50% SICU coverage and 50% TACS coverage.
